The best way to keep up to date with Maindy Corries

Solid Maindy step up pressure for 2nd place

Amin capped a great all-round team performance against Ely with a four-goal match tally.
Sticking with a solid formation, Maindy started the match well with a goal after just 90 seconds, with a lay-off from Sameem for Keiran to rifle a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
There were further goals in the half from Shakil and Scott, who took the rebound from his own free-kick on his left foot. There was a dubious missed offside decision that allowed Ely to get a goal back and a clear penalty decision wasn't given Maindy's way at 3-1 - the ref's whistle was in his mouth, he just forgot to blow it, perhaps.
With the score 3-1 at half-time, the second half belonged to Amin with one of his best matches of the season. As Maindy stepped up the pressure, Amin linked up well with Shakil, Seb, Luke and Keiran. His movement on and off the ball and determination to win 50-50 balls and take on players was well rewarded with his goals.
There could have been more for Maindy with some clinical finishing, but the result was enough to put clear space between the top three teams and the chasing mid-table sides. Now on 22 points, Maindy will continue to push St Josephs hard for that second promotion spot.
